Privacy Policy

You can use this without sharing anything

SwayamDhan has a fully anonymous, local-only mode: your family, holdings, and every number you enter stay in your own browser’s storage and are never sent to our servers at all. If you’re not comfortable sharing certain details — a real name, an exact address, a specific account number — you don’t have to. Use a nickname, round numbers, or skip a field. While we take every reasonable precaution to protect data that is shared with us (see below), the simplest protection is simply not sharing what you’d rather keep private, and this app is built to let you do that.

What we collect, if you create an account

Creating an account (rather than staying anonymous) involves:

• A username/email and a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text).
• Whatever household, portfolio, holdings, and planning data you choose to enter.
• If you use Ask-the-Advisor: your question, and a summary of your portfolio (net worth, member names/ages/roles, fund and holding names, allocation plan) is sent to Anthropic’s Claude API for that one answer. Folio numbers are deliberately excluded from that payload. The question and answer are stored in your account so you can see your own history; they are not shared with anyone else.

What we don’t do

• We don’t sell your data, to anyone, ever.
• We don’t use your data to train any AI model, ours or anyone else’s.
• We use Vercel Analytics to see aggregate traffic — how many visitors, which pages, roughly where from — so we know whether anyone’s actually using this. It doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t collect anything that identifies you personally, and can’t track you across other sites. We run no ad trackers and no other third-party embeds. No cookies are set beyond what’s strictly needed to keep you signed in, so there is still no cookie-consent banner to click through.
• We don’t share your data with other households or other users.

Deleting your data

Account → Delete account permanently removes your household, members, portfolios, holdings, plans, and Ask-AI history, after a password confirmation step. If you’re in local/anonymous mode, deleting is even simpler — it never left your browser, so clearing it from Account → local settings (or just clearing your browser’s site data) is complete and immediate. You can also export a full copy of your data at any time before deleting, from the same page.

Where your data lives

Our application servers and database are hosted in the Asia-Pacific region (Singapore). India does not currently require personal financial data of this kind to stay on servers located in India, but we’re stating our hosting region here for transparency.

We aim to acknowledge grievances within 7 days and resolve them within 30 days. (This is currently a solo-founder project, so the grievance contact is published by role rather than by name — see the disclaimer for why.)

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of SwayamDhan after a change means you accept the updated policy.
